About Us

Kilkenny County Council Library Service provides a dynamic and accessible network of resources to enrich the lives of communities across the county. Operating through eight branch libraries, a mobile library, local studies and library headquarters, the service promotes literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural engagement. We aim to cultivate sustainable, inclusive, engaged communities and promote a love of reading, life-long learning and cultural heritage. In addition to traditional book lending, libraries host events, workshops, and initiatives to support reading for pleasure, skill development, learning and cultural engagement. We also offer online services such as eBooks, eMagazines, and language courses. Guided by national and local strategies and part of the Libraries Ireland network, the service plays a vital role in fostering creativity, digital skills, and social inclusion throughout Kilkenny.
