Spring into Storytime 2026

Spring Into Storytime – April at Kilkenny Libraries

Kilkenny County Council Library Service is delighted to launch Spring Into Storytime this April, a month dedicated to celebrating children’s love of books and storytelling. This much loved annual initiative invites young readers to discover stories in a fun, relaxed, and welcoming environment.
Sophie Walsh, Executive Librarian at Kilkenny Libraries, says:
“Spring into Storytime gives children a wonderful opportunity to experience the magic of stories. We hope it encourages them to grow into curious learners and passionate readers.”

Storytime Sessions Throughout April
Throughout the month, library branches across the county will host free Storytime sessions for children and the adults who support them. Parents, grandparents, carers, and childminders are all warmly invited.
Every branch will offer at least one session, with many providing stortyimes designed especially for preschool and primary school children. These Storytimes are a perfect chance to share stories together, spark imagination, and enjoy meaningful family moments centred around books.

Why Storytime Matters
Through engaging stories, children are transported into new worlds, helping them explore different cultures, emotions, and perspectives. Reading together builds empathy, strengthens bonds between children and adults, and lays the foundation for a lifelong love of books and learning.
