Castlecomer Library

Castlecomer Library, officially known as the Thomas Coogan Library, is located on Kilkenny Street in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny. Opened in 1999, it serves as a vital cultural and educational hub for the north Kilkenny area. The library is fully wheelchair accessible and offers a diverse collection, including books for all ages, newspapers, magazines, CDs, and language courses, as well as resources on local history. Visitors can access public facilities such as internet services, photocopying, and even compost bins, while schools and community groups benefit from class visits and regular exhibitions. In addition to its traditional services, Castlecomer Library plays an important role in preserving local heritage, exemplified by its recent contribution to the Kilkenny Digital Archive, which digitized decades of theatre and pantomime history from the Deenside Players. With extended  My Open Library Hours, this library continues to be a cornerstone for learning, creativity, and community engagement in Castlecomer.
