This storyline for adults, which started on the 8th December, is an initiative of Kilkenny County Council Library Service as part of the national “Keep Well” Community Resilience Campaign. There are 10 stories for callers’ listening pleasure. To hear a story, callers ring the free phone number 1800 300309 and then press a number between 0 and 9.
“This Dial-A-Story service will help people stay connected. They can ring in for FREE, if they are bored or lonely and have a story read for them by library staff. The stories are by local authors including some from Loughboy Writers’ Group and Thomastown Writers’ Group, who met in their local library. The stories have an eclectic mix of themes, so there is something for everyone to enjoy “says Dorothy O’Reilly, Senior Executive Librarian.
Another library story service is our Christmas podcasts for children and adults, which you will find on our library website under https://www.kilkennylibrary.ie/eng/news/ and on our Social Media in the run up to Christmas.
They include traditional tales e.g. an excerpt from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, The Gift of the Magi and T’was the Night Before Christmas, as well as some modern Christmas stories.
These services are FREE and available for all, you don’t even have to be a library member! However if you would like to join the library to access more great services, you can, join online at https://lgma.iii.com/selfreg or at a branch.
