Kilkenny County Council Library Service is delighted to announce that we received additional funding this year under the 2020 Healthy Ireland at your Library initiative which allows us to continue to support our communities’ good health and well-being. Over the coming weeks, we are rolling out Phase 3 of this fantastic initiative, which is funded by Healthy Ireland. We have a new programme of events, workshops and talks to help you to get fit and healthy! In addition to the events, we have our dedicated book collection, eBook and eAudiobooks resources and our digital magazines to keep you motivated.
Our programme of events include a series of guided walks, mindfulness for exams, a de-cluttering workshop, music therapy sessions, a gardening workshop and a talk on how to prepare for retirement!
“We are delighted to have partnered with these facilitators and local organisations, in particular the HSE to once again deliver a varied programme. We hope that this programme will enable the library to continue its role as a source of trusted health information for our local communities”, comments Karyn Deegan, Healthy Ireland at your Library Co-ordinator for Kilkenny County Council Library Service.
Registered HSE dietitian Aislinn Murphy will give a talk on Healthy Eating for Healthy Living in Thomastown and Castlecomer Libraries, and Senior Health Promotion Officer with the HSE, Teresa Hennessy will deliver a series of workshops on “Ageing with Confidence” in Loughboy Library.
