Thomastown Library

Located in South Kilkenny, the new Thomastown Library opened on May 20th 2026 offering a welcoming and inclusive space for readers, learners, and families. Visitors of all ages can enjoy free access to a wide range of books, newspapers, audiobooks, games and DVDs, as well as printing and photocopying services, 32 dedicated study spaces, cosy reading chairs, public PCs, a laptop borrowing facility and Wi-Fi. The library also provides access to a dedicated collection of Local Studies materials to help our borrowers explore the rich local heritage and history of the area.

With friendly and welcoming staff and regular events including storytimes, book clubs, class visits and educational workshops, the library caters to all ages and interests. In a community renowned for its creative spirit, Thomastown Library is a vibrant hub for information, inspiration, and connection. Our Art, Craft and Design collection will provide inspiration to the many artists, hobbyists and craftspeople in our community while new equipment including 3D printer, sublimation printer, heat press and sewing machines will provide access to the tools needed to unlock new skills. The brand-new Thomastown Library offers extended opening hours, expanded services and enhanced spaces for the entire community.
